Choosing a platform to stream live and sell tickets is not just about comparing prices: it is about understanding who pays, how they pay, and where your audience watches from. A platform built for creators in the United States can be excellent and still leave you halfway there if your audience is in Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay, or Colombia and wants to pay with Mercado Pago.
In this comparison, we review PlagTV, Uscreen, Dacast, Muvi, and Vimeo OTT fairly: what each does well and where it has limits. The goal is not to "sell" one option, but to help you decide based on your real case.

PlagTV
What it does well: PlagTV is built in Montevideo, Uruguay, and designed for the Latin American market from the start. It integrates Mercado Pago natively, charges no monthly plan or fixed cost, and applies a 10% commission only on paid-access sales (for free events it uses a flat fee per viewer per hour). It includes white-label, geo-restriction, multi-device playback (web and mobile app), and live support. It already operates with real sports clients such as CV10 Mercedes, Liga Canaria de Futsal, and Todo Fútbol Rocha.
Limits: it is a platform focused on events and the LATAM region. If you are looking for a Netflix-style catalog with thousands of global subscribers or fully customized mobile/TV apps at large scale, there are solutions more oriented to that use.
Uscreen
What it does well: Uscreen is one of the most solid platforms for content creators, courses, fitness, and memberships. It offers a very polished brand experience, a flat monthly price (no bandwidth overage charges), and good retention and community tools.
Limits: its monthly cost is high (hundreds of dollars per month), which can weigh on you if you are just starting out or if you stream one-off events. It is global and English-first, and it does not integrate Mercado Pago natively, so charging in local currency to a Latin American audience tends to be less direct.
Dacast
What it does well: Dacast has a long track record in live streaming and professional broadcast. It is a good option for high-volume events, with plans from ~USD 39/mo and robust technical capabilities.
Limits: its payment gateway applies a commission of approximately 9.9% + USD 0.40 per transaction, and like the rest it is a global platform without native Mercado Pago integration. For the Latin American audience that prefers to pay in local currency, that adds friction.
Muvi
What it does well: Muvi is a complete OTT solution: it lets you launch your own platform with web, mobile, and TV apps under your brand. It is powerful for those who want to build an all-in-one streaming service.
Limits: it starts from ~USD 399/mo, which places it in a more ambitious segment with a higher initial investment. It is global and not optimized for Latin American payments, so if your case is selling tickets to events in the region, it may be oversized.
Vimeo OTT
What it does well: Vimeo OTT is a recognized and trusted brand, with good customization and a polished experience for launching a subscription service (approximately USD 12–20 per subscriber depending on the tier).
Limits: the cost scales as you grow, and it also does not integrate Mercado Pago natively. It is a comfortable option to start with, but its model is designed for global subscription rather than for charging for one-off events in LATAM.
Which one fits your case?
There is no single "best" platform: there is a best one for your situation.
- Sports and live events in LATAM → PlagTV. If your audience pays in local currency and you stream matches, tournaments, or one-off events, PlagTV eliminates the monthly plan and charges only when you sell. Check out our sports solution.
- Global creators of courses, fitness, or memberships → Uscreen. If you are building a recurring community with an international audience and want a Netflix-style experience, Uscreen is a safe bet.
- High-volume broadcast → Dacast. If your priority is the technical robustness of large-scale live streaming, Dacast has the track record.
- Complete OTT with your own apps → Muvi. If you want your own streaming service with web, mobile, and TV apps under your brand, Muvi covers that scope.
- Starting with global subscription → Vimeo OTT. If you are starting with a subscription model and already know the brand, it is a good starting point.
How to decide in 3 questions
- Where is your audience and how do they want to pay? If it is LATAM and they use Mercado Pago, that tips the scale strongly toward PlagTV.
- Do you stream one-off events or recurring content? Events favor models with no monthly plan; recurring content can justify a flat price like Uscreen's.
- Do you need your own TV/mobile apps or is multi-device web enough? If you need a complete OTT, look at Muvi; if you are looking to charge and stream without friction, PlagTV.
